Post-Baccalaureate
Research Assistant I am soon to be alumni of San Diego State University as a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. I will be applying to graduate programs soon and intend to further my education in Social Psychology at the doctoral level. I am interested in topics that encompass the experiences of groups.
I am currently in my first semester in STEPP Lab, while also researching sexual assault with Dr. Emilio Ulloa. I hope to gain research experience and refine my research knowledge while trying to make a positive impact on the groups that we study. The STEPP Lab interested me because I wanted to learn about what keeps minority group members away from STEM. Growing up, education was not pushed as much as it should have been, furthermore any STEM field was not within in my career radar. Fortunately, in my 20s, I had role models that broke false perceptions I had of STEM and motivated me to pursue it. I am proud to be in a lab that not only does research in a lab setting, but also goes out to the community to break false STEM perceptions while conscious of cultural values.
