Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am currently a sophomore majoring in psychology here at SDSU. I am still trying to figure out exactly what I want to pursue within psychology, but hopefully being involved in the lab will give me more of a direction. I have always thought that social psychology can be applied to any life situation because it is always beneficial to understand others and appreciate the different perspectives people can share. For this reason, I am happy to be apart of the STEPP lab because I find it interesting how the lab looks at the impact of role models on the underrepresentation of minorities in STEM and how stereotypes affect their mindset about the overall field. I am excited to learn from others and understand the influential factors that contribute to the decision-making people, from different backgrounds, engage in when choosing their majors. In addition to the topic of the study, I am also curious to see if the research field will be the route for me in the future.
