Post-Baccalaureate RAMy interests are on the effects of stereotypes on stigmatized groups. Most importantly, on interventions that will mitigate the consequences of stereotypes on underrepresented minorities. I am currently working on a project that observes the effects of role models on female college students, with the purpose of promoting continuation in STEM fields. I am also working on a project that is interested in the impact of role models on underrepresented minority high school students with the intent of encouraging involvement in STEM fields.
Aside from my interests in the academic achievement of underrepresented minority students, I am interested on the impact of negative stereotypes on intergroup relations and prejudice. My goal is to understand the effects of stereotypes on intergroup relations in order to reduce discrimination and improve interactions between members of different groups.
