Undergraduate Research Assistant

I am a senior psychology major with an emphasis in industrial-organizational psychology and an honors minor in interdisciplinary studies at San Diego State University. I am interested in increasing the persistence of women in college-level math courses as well as within the STEM field. Currently, I am working on replicating the success we had with implementing a female role model in classrooms, with a male role model. This means that I am trying to understand what makes a role model of the opposite gender effective, and further, how we can portray those desired traits. Ultimately, I want to have groups of both male and female undergraduate college students who can serve as effective role models to the young women considering entering the STEM field.
